    Issue. On certain vehicles, a manufacturing defect could cause the windshield wipers to become inoperable. If an obstruction (such as snow or ice in the cowl area of the windshield) prevents the wipers from returning to the “park” position when wipers are turned off, the wiper arms would be forced to "park" at a higher than intended position on the windshield. The wiper arms will continuously attempt to return to the normal park position, generating an excessive amount of electrical current in the wiper motor bottom cover, possibly resulting in overheating. This could result in the windshield wipers becoming inoperable, or a possible fire in the bottom cover area of the wiper motor. These issues could impair the driver’s visibility and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

    Corrective action. Dealers will replace the front wiper motor bottom cover assembly with a countermeasure one.

On certain vehicles equipped with a dealer-installed accessory remote engine starter, if the fob is dropped, movement of the internal battery retaining clip may occur and cause damage to a component on the printed circuit board. Under this condition, the fob may transmit an engine start (or stop) request without the user pressing the button. If the vehicle is in range and receives the request, the engine may start and run for up to 15 minutes (or until a stop request is received). The engine may continue to start and stop until the fob battery is depleted, or until the vehicle runs out of fuel. If that occurs when the vehicle is parked in an enclosed area, such as a garage, there is a risk of carbon monoxide build-up, which could result in asphyxiation or carbon monoxide poisoning.

    Corrective action. Dealers will replace the remote engine starter fob.

    Issue, risk and remedy

    Issue. On certain passenger vehicles the brake master cylinder may not function properly in ambient temperatures below freezing (0 deg. C and lower). In temperatures below freezing, the brakes may not release after being applied, even when your foot is no longer on the brake pedal. This can occur without prior warning, possibly resulting in a crash.

    Corrective action. Dealers will replace the master cylinders.

    Issue, risk and remedy

    Issue. On certain vehicles, the inner seat-rail rail locking pawl may be improperly welded to the moveable adjustment lever rod. After several seat adjustments, the spot welds holding the locking pawl to the rod may break loose. This could cause the locking pawl to possibly fall out of position and fail to lock the inner seat rail of the seat. This condition could increase the risk of personal injury in the event of a sudden stop or vehicle crash.

    Corrective action. Suspect inner front seat-rails will be replaced.

    Issue, risk and remedy

    Issue. On certain vehicles, separation of fuel hose layers and heat deterioration of the fuel hose can result in fuel leakage in very cold temperatures. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source could result in an underhood fire. These fuel hoses were produced under Lot Numbers 0804 and 0806.

    Corrective action. Vehicles will be inspected and all fuel hoses with Lot Numbers 0804 and 0806 will be replaced.

    Issue, risk and remedy

    Issue. On certain vehicles, improperly cast right front bearing housings could cause grease leakage, front wheel bearing failure due to loss of grease, or the possibility of steering loss due to tie rod separation. This could result in loss of vehicle control and a crash.

    Corrective action. Affected right front bearing housings will be replaced.

    Issue, risk and remedy

    Issue. On certain vehicles, the headlamp assemblies may not comply with the marking requirements of CMVSS 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The bulb center mark on the lens has been interchanged between 2-bulb headlamps and 4-bulb headlamps.

    Corrective action. No corrective action will be taken due to the inconsequence to vehicle safety. The manufacturing process has been remedied to assure correction of the non-compliance on vehicles manufactured since January 30, 2000.

  • Every Outback sold in Canada has Symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive and X-Mode; the 2026 model has 220 mm of ground clearance.[16][22]
  • Canadian Outbacks came from Subaru of Indiana Automotive until production there ended in the autumn of 2025. The 2026 Outback, including the Wilderness, is imported from Japan, so it is not caught by the Canadian counter-tariffs that have paused Subaru's U.S.-built models.[4][5][6]
  • Canadian trim names differ from U.S. ones: Canada uses Convenience, Touring, Limited, Premier and the XT suffix, while the U.S. uses Base, Premium, Limited and Touring.[1][16]
  • A 6-speed manual was offered in Canada on 2.5 L Outbacks until 2017, after the U.S. lineup had become CVT-only.[1][14]
  • Subaru Canada's own CVT Warranty Enhancement Program covers 2010 to 2018 Outback CVTs for 10 years or 160,000 km, and the coverage transfers to later owners.[23]
