    Issue, risk and remedy

    Issue. In certain driving situations, a metal structure like a railroad crossing or overhead sign could cause the Automatic Emergency Braking system (AEB) to activate when it is not needed. If this happens, the system would provide a collision warning. If the driver takes no action, the vehicle could slow suddenly or come to a complete stop.

    Safety risk. If the AEB system activates with braking when no potential collision is present, it could increase the risk of a crash.

    Corrective action. The company will send a letter to owners to explain this issue. Owners will be informed that a software update is available for the AEB system. This update can be installed at a dealership at no charge to the owner.

    Issue. Certain vehicles may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 207 - Anchorage of Seats and CMVSS 210 – Seat Belt Anchorages. The recliner joint on the lower seat frame assembly of the second and/or third row seats may contain inadequate welds. As a result, the seat frames may not meet certain performance requirements of the standards, which could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant(s) in the event of a crash.

    Corrective action. Dealers will inspect the seat frame barcode and replace the lower seat frame assembly with a new one if necessary.

    Issue. On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

    Corrective action. For affected Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue and Sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected Leaf, NV200, Pathfinder, Q50 and JX35/QX60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.

    Issue. On certain vehicles, the anti-corrosion treatment of the outer tube of the rear lift gate stay may be insufficient. Over time, the outer tube of the rear lift gate stay may corrode and break off, which could increase the risk of injury.

    Corrective action. Dealers will replace both rear door stays.

    Issue. Certain vehicles may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 102 - Transmission Control Functions and CMVSS 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention. A defect in the transmission shift selector assembly could allow the driver to shift the transmission out of the PARK gear position without depressing the brake pedal, change gear positions without depressing the gear shift lever detent button, and/or remove the ignition key without the transmission being in PARK. These issues could cause unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury and/or property damage.

    Corrective action. Dealers will affect repairs.

    Issue. Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 206 – Door Lock and Door Retention Components. A manufacturing error could cause the left front and/or left rear door latches to fail to fully latch and fail to meet the requirements of the standard. As a result, occupants may be at greater risk of injury in a crash, and unbelted occupants could fall from the vehicle and sustain injury.

    Corrective action. Dealers will inspect latches and replace as necessary.

    Corrective action. Dealers will inspect the steering column assembly and replace the bolt as required.

    Issue. On certain vehicles, wiring harness connector could corrode due to exposure to snow/water containing road salt. This could result in an electrical short causing damage to the connector and increasing the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

    Corrective action. Dealers will add a waterproof seal, inspect the harness connector and replace as necessary.

    Issue. On certain vehicles, the steering gear housing cover screw may have been manufactured out of specification and the axial tension between the screw and gear housing may deteriorate over time. This could allow the screw to gradually loosen, which will cause the steering wheel to exhibit noticeable looseness from the steering assembly. If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the screw may eventually come out of the steering gear housing. If large steering inputs are made with the cover screw missing, the pinion shaft may come out of the steering gear. This may result in a loss of steering control, which could lead to a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death.

    Corrective action. Dealers will inspect whether the steering gear cover screw is loose. If it is loose, it will be retightened to the proper specification. In addition, the dealer will install a cover plate to prevent the screw from possibly coming out of the steering gear.

    Issue. On certain vehicles, material in the nut used to secure the sensor-transmitter of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may corrode and crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt. If this occurs, the nut may come out of the TPMS sensor-transmitter causing a rapid loss of tire air pressure. This could adversely affect vehicle control and cause a crash resulting in property damage, personal injury or death.

    Corrective action. Dealers will replace the TPMS nut with a revised version.

    Issue. On certain vehicles, a varistor in the Occupant Classification System (OCS) control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured incorrectly. Under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the OCS and the Airbag control unit (ACU). This could result in the passenger airbag being suppressed. The (red) supplemental airbag warning light would flash & the (amber) front passenger airbag status light would illuminate to alert the vehicle operator, however in case of a crash a suppressed airbag could result in personal injury or death.

    Corrective action. Dealers will test the signal between the OCS & ACU and if necessary will replace the seat cushion containing OCS hardware.

  • Nissan Canada said in 2020 that the Rogue had been its best-selling vehicle every year since 2012, and in 2022 it still called the Rogue its number-one model in Canada.[3][4]
  • Every 2021 Canadian Rogue came with heated front seats, heated mirrors and a heated steering wheel, and AWD models added a Snow drive mode.[3]
  • Canada kept the 2.5 L four-cylinder on the base S for 2022–2023 while US models and upper Canadian trims moved to the 1.5 L VC-Turbo; since 2024 every Canadian Rogue has the VC-Turbo and AWD.[5][7][14]
