Issue. On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by an FCA dealer during recall Z48 (Transport Canada recall no. 2022-305) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, a problem inside the hydraulic control unit (HCU) for the antilock brake system (ABS) could cause the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC) system not to work. This could also cause the brake lights to turn on or stay on without pressing the brake pedal, and it may allow the vehicle to be started and the transmission to be shifted out of the Park position (P) without pressing the brake pedal.

Safety risk. An antilock braking system and/or electronic stability control system that doesn't work could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Brake lights that stay on could cause others not to recognize when the vehicle is braking and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective action. FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the integrated pressure transducer on the HCU. The dealer will also update the ABS software, if necessary.

Issue. This recall is for aftermarket replacement rear window glass produced by Vitro Automotriz. Certain rear window glass may not have been properly tempered. If the window breaks, the glass may separate into large pieces instead of very small ones. Note: This is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Safety risk. Glass that breaks in to large pieces could create a risk of injury.

Corrective action. The company will notify consumers by mail and instruct them to inspect the designation code marked on the rear window glass. Products affected by this recall have the designation “DOT 287” along with the lettering “VMR” (Replacement Market) and a date code that is before July 2019. Issue. On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine and automatic transmission, water from the air conditioner evaporator drain tube may enter the transmission at the fill tube grommet seal. This can result in shudder during torque converter clutch engagement which, if ignored by the operator, could lead to increased transmission operating temperatures, boiling of the water, and a subsequent purging of transmission fluid into the engine compartment that could lead to a fire.

Corrective action. Dealers will inspect the transmission for leakage at the fill tube grommet seal. If no leak is detected, a new fill tube grommet seal and water deflector shield will be installed, and proper alignment of the fill tube verified. If the presence of a leak is detected, the vehicle will be evaluated for a shudder condition and based on the evaluation, the transmission will either be triple flushed or the torque converter replaced as required and a new grommet seal and water deflector will be installed.
