Issue. On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the instrument panel cluster to reboot while driving. As a result, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights and malfunction tell-tales. Note: This recall only affects hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models equipped with a heads-up display.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the side-impact sensors may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the driver-front and passenger-front airbags may not work properly in a crash. Note: This recall also affects hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.

On certain vehicles, the trailer wiring harness may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, water could leak into the harness and cause it to fail. If this happens, the trailer lights and/or the vehicle's stop lights may not work. This could also cause the wiring harness to short circuit. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a Hyundai Genuine accessory trailer wiring harness part number N7H03-AP100.

Safety risk. Vehicle and/or trailer lights that don't work could make the vehicle and/or trailer less visible and cause others not to recognize that the vehicle is braking or intends to turn or change lanes. These issues could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a short circuit can create the risk of a fire.

Corrective action. Hyundai will notify owners in writing. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbags may not have been installed properly. As a result, the airbag(s) may not inflate properly in a crash.

Safety risk. A side curtain airbag that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Corrective action. Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reinstall the side curtain airbags properly.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the compliance label may be missing information in French. The words listed on the label for "Tires", "Rims", "Front" and "Rear" appear in English only, when they should be listed as "Tires/Pneus", "Rims/Jantes", "Front/Avant" and "Rear/Arriere". Canadian regulations require this information to be listed on the label in both English and French.

Safety risk. These small errors do not affect vehicle safety.

Corrective action. This is not a recall. The company has corrected the compliance label for all new vehicles.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label lists a tire pressure for the spare tire. The label should instead read as ''NONE / AUCUN'', as the vehicles are not equipped with a spare tire.

Safety risk. While there is a low risk to safety, listing the correct information on the tire and loading information label is required by Canadian regulations.

Corrective action. None of the affected vehicles have been delivered to customers. Hyundai dealers will replace the tire and loading information label before the vehicles are delivered.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the circuit board for the transmission electric oil pump may be damaged. As a result, the circuit board could short circuit and overheat, and various electrical systems may not work properly.

Safety risk. A short circuit could create the risk of a fire.

Corrective action. Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the transmission electric oil pump controller, and replace it as necessary. Hyundai recommends parking your vehicle outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until the recall repairs are completed.

Issue. On certain hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), the daytime running lamps (DRLs) do not turn on when you use the Remote Smart Parking Assist feature. Canadian regulations require the DRLs to turn on when the vehicle moves.

Safety risk. A moving vehicle without daytime running lights may be less visible to people and could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective action. Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the vehicle software.

In some cases, a damaged connecting rod could puncture the engine block and cause an oil leak. Note: For the Sonata model, only the Sonata Hybrid is affected by this recall. Additional Note: Engine compartment fires can happen for many different reasons. In some cases, there is too much damage to find the cause of a fire.

Issue. On certain vehicles equipped with a 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), in higher ambient temperatures, the transmission clutch could have delayed engagement when accelerating from a stop. If the accelerator pedal is steadily depressed for approximately 1.5 to 2 seconds, the vehicle will begin to accelerate and normal driving is resumed. However, if the accelerator pedal is repeatedly cycled, the vehicle will not accelerate. A loss of motive power may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Corrective action. Dealers will reprogram the Transmission Control Module.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the secondary hood latch can potentially disengage due to a tolerance build-up between the latch and catch mechanisms. If the vehicle were to be driven with the primary hood latch disengaged, there is a potential that the secondary hood latch may not hold the hood closed as designed while the vehicle is in motion. If this were to occur, it could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage.

Corrective action. Dealers will replace the secondary hood latch catch with a revised component. Note: There would be a visual warning in the instrument cluster to indicate that the primary latch would be disengaged, and for “Limited” and “Ultimate” trim models, there would be an additional audible warning.

Issue. Hyundai is conducting a special service campaign that provides anti-corrosion treatment to certain underbody components. Over time, components under the vehicle, including brake lines could corrode. If this happens, a brake line could fail and leak. A brake fluid leak can result in reduced braking.

Safety risk. Reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective action. Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the underbody, including the brake lines. The dealer will apply an anti-corrosion treatment to certain parts, and replace the brake lines if necessary.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the control module for the antilock brake system (ABS) could short circuit. Note: This recall doesn't affect vehicles equipped with smart cruise control (SCC). This recall replaces Transport Canada recall 2022-046. Vehicles that were already repaired under Hyundai recall R0208 don't require this repair.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the stop lamp switch may fail and cause intermittent operation of the brake lights. Failure of the brake lights to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.

Corrective action. Dealers will replace the switch.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the stop lamp switch may fail and cause intermittent operation of the brake lights. Failure of the brake lights to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the stop lamp switch may have been incorrectly installed during vehicle assembly. This could prevent proper brake lamp operation. Failure of the brake lamps to illuminate when the brakes are applied may result in the following road users being unaware of the driver's intentions, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury or death. A malfunction of the switch may also cause the brake lamps to remain illuminated when the brake pedal is released. Additionally, a faulty switch may affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock on automatic transmission-equipped vehicles so that the transmission shifter would not be able to be shifted out of PARK position. It may also cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) light to illuminate, and it may not deactivate the cruise control when the brake pedal is depressed.

Corrective action. Dealers will replace the stop lamp switch assembly.

Issue. On certain vehicles, if a small statured adult driver, not wearing a seatbelt, is involved in a frontal or near frontal crash, deployment of the driver airbag may result in an insufficient margin of compliance as measured by the test dummy in the US Government fifth percentile female Out-Of-Position test. Canadian regulations in this area differ from those in the United States and thus Canadian vehicles are not out of compliance. However, in the interest of safety, Hyundai Auto Canada is conducting this campaign in order to improve the margin of compliance with CMVSS 208.

Corrective action. Dealers will replace the driver airbag module.

Issue. Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 120. The compliance label does not contain the rim size information as required by the Standard.

Corrective action. Dealers will install an updated compliance label.

Issue. On certain vehicles, the parking brake lever ratchet pawl was not properly manufactured and may damage the teeth of the parking brake lever ratchet. Damaged parking brake lever ratchet teeth may prevent the parking brake from engaging or could allow it to release after being engaged. The inability to engage, or the inadvertent release of the parking brake lever may allow the vehicle to roll while it is parked, which may result in a crash.

Corrective action. Dealers will replace the parking brake lever assembly.

Issue. On certain vehicles, while cornering under conditions where Electronic Stability Program (ESP) activation may not be needed, a sensitive ESP may cause the engine to reduce power and the brake at one of the wheels to be applied without brake pedal application by the driver. This may cause the vehicle to slow and may affect the path that the vehicle is traveling. Brake application caused by inadvertent ESP activation may result in a crash.

Corrective action. Dealers will reprogram the ESP Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU).
